7 Ways To Enjoy Daylight Hours in Ibiza
We love Ibiza for many reasons and visit often. There is so much more to the island than its typical party reputation. Ibiza is approximately a 2 hour 20 minute flight from London airports and out of season, return tickets can cost Β£40. Taxis are easy to get from the airport, as is the bus system that drops you in most central locations around the island. Ibiza enjoys mild springs and autumns, making it an ideal destination to enjoy a little sunshine nearly all year round. Here you’ll find our top seven spots to enjoy during the day in and around San Antonio.
1. A Day Trip To Ibiza Town
One of our favourite non-sunbathing day options is a trip to Ibiza Town. Easily accessible by public bus from the main bus station in San Antoni, Eivissa has endless shops, fantastic restaurants by the waters edge and a picturesque old town with cobbled streets and quaint buildings. Spend a day walking around and practising your Spanish. Eat paella, drink sangria and find a fashion statement that no one else at home will have in the high street shops. We highly recommend Mandala for a full body massage; a great treat after a little retail therapy.
2. Half Day Boat Trips From San Antonio
If you love the ocean, you can take a wide variety of boat trips from San Antonio. Try Cala Bassa for a stunning beach day or better yet, pick a boat that simply takes you around mysterious rock formations and breathtaking coastline. The sea surrounding Ibiza is enticing and is often overlooked whilst most tourists sleep off their hangovers. The natural beauty of Ibiza is enticing and a day on the ocean will help you relax and breath easy again. Many companies offer half and full day tours from San Antonio marina, where you can often just drop by, pay and jump aboard.
3. Eating Out In San Antonio
For food, our favourite restaurant in San Antonio is Casita. With a varied menu and reasonable prices, it’s bound to suit everyone. The front of the restaurant sits in a pretty garden so you can enjoy your meal outside on beautiful summer evenings. This location is a short walk from most hotels in San Antonio Bay. If you are in town for a few days, make sure you also stop for food at one of the many restaurants and bars that dot the water front and enjoy your lunch or dinner with a sea view. We like Itaca and Tulp Beach Cafe for yummy food with a laid back vibe.
4. Sunset And Cocktails In San Antonio
Sunset strip is a βmust doβ for a mellow evening out with perhaps a cheeky cocktail. A variety of venues offer outdoor seating with chilled music alongside the sound of the waves. Sunset hour is definitely the best time to visit but also the busiest. If you would prefer to avoid the crowds, you could instead take some drinks of your own and perch on the nearby beach steps to absorb a sunset from this prime location in San Antonio without spending too much money.
5. A Sunday Afternoon At Benirras Beach
If you enjoy music and a more natural party than the ones the super clubs offer, head to Benirras beach for a sunset of drumming with incredible people in a sensational location. Every Sunday, the Benirras drummers meet and play as the sun goes down. Relax on the beach, dance in the waves and enjoy wonderful chilled company in one of the best spots on the island. This location is about 30 mins from San Antonio in the car and is definitely one not to miss!
If you are planning a visit soon, we highly recommend you pre-book your Car Hire.
6. A Day Party In San Antonio
Ocean Beach club is definitely worth a visit if you enjoy Ibiza’s music scene and are looking for a day time party. Ocean is a place to enjoy the pool, the food and the performers. Artists from Arte Volante set a wonderful stage of dancers, aerialists, contortionists and models. Enjoy the sunlight hours and dance all afternoon under the canopy by the pool edge or jump into the pool to play in the water. We always enjoy an afternoon at Ocean Beach Club and want to offer a special thank you to owner Tony Truman for always making us feel so welcome in this beautiful gem in San An.
7. A San Antonio Hotel With A Pool
There are endless options when it comes to a place to stay in San Antonio. You can find everything from apartments for groups and families, to sky-rise hotels with sunset views over the ocean. Wherever you stay, many local hotels with swimming pools are open to day guests who purchase drinks or food. Marina Playa sits at the entrance to San Antonio Bay and offers a great outdoor pool, plenty of sun loungers and excellent service. Relax with a refreshing drink and enjoy a day of swimming, sunbathing and snoozing, not far from the ocean.

San Antonio is typically known for drinking and partying, as is Ibiza. Visiting in the peak of Summer will be an entirely different experience compared to a visit out of season. You can enjoy days out in the area at any time of year but consider the fine balance between the crowded mid Summer holiday versus the middle of winter when many tourist spots close for renovations and a rest. We recommend visiting late Spring or early Autumn to get the most out of daytime San Antonio.
For us, Ibiza is not just about the incredible nightlife. It’s about uncovering the beauty that was already here and connecting with outdoor activities in this sun-drenched destination. When you stay in San Antonio, explore. Hire a car, take the bus or do lots of walking. There are so many beautiful places to discover.
